So God Made A Farmer's Wife

And on the 9th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and noticed the sadness in the farmer's heart. He saw the farmer was lonely and tasked with more work than one man could handle alone, so God made a farmer's wife.

God said, "I need somebody who will rise before the farmer to make breakfast hearty enough to fuel him through a hard day, served as a full plate with a warm smile. I need someone who will work all day in town while also finding time to work in the barn or the house to tend whatever needs tending. I need someone who will run the errands, fix the supper, plant a garden and stay up long after the farmer has settled in for the night to finish washing up the dishes". So God made a farmer's wife.

God said, "I need someone willing to stay up all night with a sick child and help encourage them during their days to grow into who God intends them to be. I need someone who is willing to pray over her children, her husband and her fields without wavering in faith when one of them is facing troubled times. I need someone who knows how to stretch a paycheck and fill the pantry, to make sure every bill is paid with a little left over to help ease the strain of an unforeseen farm expense. I need someone who can clean the house and make sure everyone feels the calming comfort of home, even on busy harvest days. So God made a farmer's wife.

God said, "I need somebody strong enough to throw heavy bales and carry the burden of a heavy load, yet gentle enough to tend to a child with a scraped knee or broken heart. I need someone business savvy enough to help finance new land or equipment, yet soft enough to calm the farmer when his worries over rain, high costs or low yields are troubling his racing mind. I need someone who can help keep the farmer on track to recognize a friends birthday or loved one in need. I need someone who always reminds the farmer to never cut corners when it comes to tending a field, animal or loved one in distress because they all need his attentiveness and tenderness when the stakes are high. So God made a farmer's wife.

God said, "I need someone who can work a forty hour week in town and still has the endurance to come home and work another sixty hour week in the field alongside her husband. I need someone who can rake and bale a field with straight lines, tend to the garden and still make it in the house before sunset to make supper, check homework and prepare lunches for the next day. I need someone who can sew together a torn pair of jeans and also sew together a strong family bond with tight stitches of hard work, soft hands and a warm heart. I need someone who can remind the farmer to find joy through the work and stay grateful to God through the harvest. I need someone who would laugh and then sigh, replying with smiling eyes when one of the farmer's children says they want to spend their life doing exactly what their dad does. So God made a farmer's wife.
