Apparently the best personal or professional growth advice can be learned from farmers!
How To Think Like a Farmer:
1. Don't shout at the crops. What you plant is what you will sow, blaming discontentment with what you have is wasted energy when you controlled what you planted the whole time!
2. Don't blame the crop for not growing fast enough. Every crop and season is different and speed of growth is dictated by what you are putting into it. But positive growth is still movement in the right direction, no matter how long it takes! Patience is critical for long term growth.
3. Don't uproot crops before they've had a chance to grow. You can't reap a harvest if you pull up what you've planted before giving it a chance to develop deep roots and grow. This is a no brainer, refer back to item #2!
4. Choose the best plants for the soil. Not every plant will flourish in every environment. The same goes for people. If you aren't in an environment that facilitates growth, get a new environment or change your goal to fit the season of where you are in life.
5. Irrigate and fertilize. What you are growing needs constant feeding of good things. The same goes for your career or goals. If you aren't pouring and feeding good things into it, it will stall out or fail.
6. Remove weeds. Toxic things or people in your life will choke out positive growth.
7. Remember you will have good seasons and bad seasons. You can't control the weather or many circumstances, but you can control being ready for anything (good or bad) that could potentially come your way!
