In addition to my professional role, I am also a 'farm wife'. Yet that term doesn't tell you about all of the skills that I have also mastered while in that additional role. If you ask me what I do for a living, I would simply tell you all about my 'day job'. But being 'a farm wife' has also equipped me with skills in the following:
- crop management
- marketing and sales
- earth science and soil health
- heavy equipment operation
- carpentry (we rebuild our own wagons)
- team management
- farm accounting
- herd management
- strategic planning
And most importantly
- behavioral psychology (anyone married to a farmer knows you have to learn to read minds and interpret behavior because your farmer will NEVER tell you what he is thinking)
So yes, I am a 'farmer's wife'. But man, does that term qualify a woman far more than anyone outside of agriculture will ever understand.
