To the Farm Wives,

By Abbie Raudabaugh

To The Farm Wives, I see you.

To the farm wives,

I see you.

I see you being more than just a farm wife.

I see you working right along side your husband, day in and day out.

I see you waiting patiently for him to tell you the next thing on his mind because you can't read it (though you're expected to at times).

I see you always worried you might get things wrong.

I see you excited when you get things right.

I see you hopeful that if you help get the work done faster, just maybe there will be time left over for you.

I see you hopeful your farmer may slow down long enough to notice you had your hair done.

I see you hopeful he will have time to notice you at all before winter sets in again.

I see you light up when he stops to appreciate your efforts, because he rarely has time to say it out loud.

I see you noticing the little details and how to help your farmer when he doesn't even know how to help himself.

I see you giving him ideas that work and help your farm function better.

I see you coordinating the chaos and figuring out how to raise a family while also being a farm hand.

I see you working in town and juggling a heavy load.

I see you wondering some days if you are strong enough to do it all.

I see you relieved when despite your self doubt, you prove constantly that you are.

Farm wives, you aren't 'just a farm wife'. You are a farm hero and your farm wouldn't run the same without you.

I see you and I think you are doing great!
